Uplift Climbing began with founder Andrew Hou's lifelong love of adventure, and a leap of faith to open a climbing gym. The project transforms an old laundry facility in Shoreline, WA into a space where anyone - regardless of skill level - can visit to challenge themselves and connect with others in the process. The motto "always try hard" drives all activity at Uplift, from climbing in the main bouldering space, to weight training in the fitness area, to practicing in the yoga studio.

Uplift is not only a gym, but a vibrant gathering spot as well. To maximize event space and encourage indoor-outdoor movement, former facade windows were removed to install a garage door opening. The change in the building's envelope has allowed for many large gatherings and celebrations to be hosted, connecting climbers and their communities together.
